Wisden’s Squad for World Test Championship XI

The ICC World Test Championship is all set to commence on June 18th 2021 at Southampton. India and New Zealand will be battling against each other.

In the meantime, Wisden has picked up the World Test Championship XI. It was a bombshell to see that the Indian captain Virat Kohli didn’t make it to the team but Kane Williamson has been selected as the captain.

Rohit Sharma and Dimuth Karunaratne have been chosen as opening batsmen of the team. The Indian right-handed batsman has scored 1030 runs with an average of 64.57. He has hit four centuries and two half centuries.

Karunaratne has scored 999 runs which includes four centuries and 4 half centuries. Marnus Labuschagne is positioned as number 3who has scored 1675 runs that includes five centuries and nine half centuries with an average of 72.8.

Steve Smith has been positioned at number four. This Aussie is currently the best batsman from Australia who has hit four brilliant centuries and 7 half centuries in his account. Kane Williamson has been chosen as the captain of the ICC WTC XI.

Ben Strokes had a pretty awesome World Test Championship tournament. He has scored 1334 runs with four excellent centuries. Apart from that, this cricketer has also picked up 34 wickets from his side.

Rishabh Pant and Ravi Ashwin Make it to the List

Rishabh Pant is a budding wicket keeper who has got the stumps five times and picked up 35 catches. He has scored nearly 662 runs with a brilliant century and an average of 41.37. Next in line is New Zealand’s bowler, Kyle Jamieson.

The Auckland born pacer has picked up 36 wickets and has had 4 four wicket hauls. Ravichandran Ashwin is the spinner who comes up next. He has picked up 67 wickets in 13 fixtures played.

The pace batteries of the team are fully charged with world class pacers, Pat Cummins and Stuart Board. Cummins has picked 70 wickets in 14 fixtures and Broad has picked 69 wickets in 17 fixtures played.
