2 min read

The Qalandars’ opening batsman, Tom Banton was seen confused and shocked when he faced the first delivery in the second innings against the Marathas. It wasn’t the bowling skills that caught the attention of the Englishman, but the unusual action the bowler possessed.

Kevin Koththigoda has often been compared with the former South African spinner, Paul Adams as he possesses the same “Frog in a Blender” action that stormed the International cricket two decades ago.

Tom Banton’s Reaction to Kevin’s bowling

In the second innings on Tuesday, Banton had to face the leg spinner. The Maratha’s skipper Mosaddek Hossain handled the ball pretty well in the first over. Koththigoda was next in line to bowl and he came up with an unusual running style and followed the frog in a blender action in his last delivery. Tom Banton has never ever faced this Sri Lankan bowler before was astonished and pushed the ball hastily which went towards middle and leg.

After this delivery, Banton was quite stunned and gave a shocked reaction which screamed disbelief.

The very next delivery, Tom tried a reverse-swat but unfortunately it was missed but confused the wicket keeper, Abdul Shakoor as it went out for four surprisingly. However, Banton looked confused and was trying to figure out the bowler’s action and scored a single in the next delivery.

However, the drama continued in the first over and on the fifth delivery, Sharjeel Khan was on strike. Seeing a midfielder, Banton went on for a single. Khan wasn’t willing to go for a run and sent him back. Koththigoda who was injured hopped back to get the ball and hit the stumps and sent back Tom to the pavilion after a run out. The next delivery for Sharjeel Khan went for a boundary and the bowler fell down, post which he was carried away.
