An interesting incident happened during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League match between Trinbago Knight Riders and Jamaica Tallawahs on Tuesday. The West Indies best bowler, Sunil Narine bowled an over that was maiden to Andre Russell.
It was the 19th match of this season and Jamaica was set a target of 168 runs to chase and the team was deserted after losing many wickets at the earlier stage of the innings.
Entering at number 8, Russell was the only hope for the team as they were at a pathetic condition of 63/6 at the end of 12 overs. The striking rate at the moment was 13 runs per over to win the match.
Kieron Pollard found a way to destroy the opponent and brough Sunil Narine on bowling when they had 14 overs left. Narine’s over started off with a dot ball. Russell tried for a six and failed miserably with the bat. Narine found his line of bowling and made it tight for Russell to not score a run.
Narine was bowling dot balls to Russell and he never attempted to score a run against him. Well, Russell didn’t want to stop there, hence came back for another over and sent back Russell for one run after facing 11 balls. Narine’s over was magical as he registered 4-1-11-2 which was the major reason for the team’s victory.
From the match’s perspective, Trinbago had put up a total of 167 runs in 20 overs. Lendl Simmons scored highest from their team of 42 runs in 39 balls. Kieron Pollard flourished the team at the end with 39 runs in just 18 balls that includes 4 huge sixes.
It was a poor start for the Jamaica team as they lost four important wickets during the powerplay and were struggling to cope up at 21/4.Their situation at the moment switched from bad to worse in seconds as batsmen were getting out one after the other. Too much pressure was imposed on the on-field batsman, Russell who had scored just one run from 11 balls faced before losing his wicket.
At the end of the game, Trinbago won the game by 75 runs as the opponent was washed out for 92.
