The 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 took place at Sharjah between the Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Winning the toss, KKR captain Eoin Morgan wanted to field and restricted DC’s batting to 127/9 at the end of 20 overs. KKR had chased the target with 10 balls remaining. An interesting incident took place during the match as the DC spinner gave a send off to Morgan after his dismissal in the 12th over.
R Ashwin wanted to bowl his last over and picked up the wicket of Eoin Morgan for a duck as the send-off party for the batsman went as a heated conversation on the last over of the first half. Ashwin completed his 4 overs for 1/24 taking the vital wicket of this game.
In the first ball of the final over, Tim Southee was the bowler and R Ashwin was the batsman on strike. He wanted to go for the big shot and came out of the crease to add a pull shot. The ball was in the air and went straight to the hands of Nitish Rana at the deep backward square.
While R Ashwin was walking back to the crease, he and Southee had exchanged few words which triggered him. Southee was first one to spill some words to Ashwin and eventually involved Morgan as well. That’s when the KKR captain and Ashwin ended up in a heated conversation. Since Dinesh Karthik is from the same state as Ashwin, he intervened the situation and moved Ashwin away from it.
Few predict the reason for the tiff may be relating to the last bowled of the previous over where the opponents had stole a run. However, the real reason behind this banter remains unrevealed still and tweets are trending in Twitter for the same. With the on-going IPL, these incidents make it to the headlines. However, we can expect such interesting incident as we are walking towards the closure of this tournament.
