Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket has announced the playing XI for the ICC World Test Championship final game against New Zealand. Fans were shocked to see two important players not placed in that list.
Prithivi Shaw and Hardik Pandya are those two players. Prithivi couldn’t make it to the team due to his clueless performance of 1 and 0 in the first Test against Australia.
Prithivi was replaced by Shubman Gill who grabbed the opportunity at the right time and used his full potential to get a hold of it.
The young lad scored a brilliant 91 runs in the decider match at the Gabba. His contribution was one of the key reasons for the Indian team to chase a huge 328 run target and win the match against Australia at their hometown.
Shubman Gill has earned his place in the team for the ICC World Test championship against New Zealand. He has done justification to his job.
In the meantime, Prithvi had improved his batting skills and it was predominantly noticed in this IPL 2021. In the 8 fixtures played, he has scored 308 runs gaining 3 half centuries.
Prithvi Demanded to Lose Weight
In a match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Prithivi Shaw created a new record as the fastest half century in Indian Premier League 2021 in just 18 balls. In Shivam Mavi’s over, Prithivi smashed 6 boundaries which was an added advantage. Despite his contributions, his name was not listed by the selectors.
Few reports reveal that the player had to undergo a weight loss inorder to wear the Indian jersey back. The batting side has been improved by the 21-year old but has to become fit to get back on track.
Rishabh Pant is a living example in front of him. If it was possible for Pant to change a few things in a few months, Prithvi can try it too.
“Prithivi is still very slow across the turf for a 21-year old. He needs to shed a few more kilos. He also had concentration issues while fielding in Australia. Shaw has been working hard since he returned from Australia.
He has the example of Rishabh Pant right in front of him. If Pant can turn things around in a few months, Prithvi too can do it,” a BCCI source reported. In the ICC World Test Championship finals, team India will be playing against New Zealand on June 18th at Southampton.
