2 min read

IPL 2021 commenced on April 9th with the match venues and dates announced much priorly. Last year’s IPL was totally different and one of a kind. Much effort was taken from making sure the players stayed in a bio bubble to conducting the matches in an audience less stadium. There was a virtual audience setup who viewed and cheered for their favourite teams from the other end of the screen.

Though it had a shaky start with prominent players backing out of the tournament due to safety and personal reasons, it is safe to say that the 13th edition of IPL was one great entertainment. Though this year some regulations have been diluted, the increasing number of COVID cases is alarming.

Inspite of players been having made to stay in a secure place and their health being monitored, there were considerable number of people who tested positive earlier. Again, when the tournament is halfway through, two players from KKR have tested positive.

KKR players test positive and match reschedule:

News broke out that Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier from KOlkata Knight Riders tested positive earlier on May 3 and the match between KKR and RCB that was set to happen on the same day has been postponed now.

As many people wonder as to how the players tested positive in spite of being in the bio bubble, sources say that Varun had gone to hospital for shoulder examination and from there he could have picked it up.

As an effect on this, DC players have been advised to quarantine themselves since KKR’S last match was against them and Varun and Sandeep were part of the squad. As the country is in the grip of the second wave of Corona, earlier three Australian cricketers pulled themselves out of the tournament. Amidst all this, the matches seem to still continue and many people think that it is the right time to revisit this decision.
