Critically acclaimed as one of the greatest Indian spinners of all time, Kumble has taken 337 wickets in 271 ODIs at an average of 30.9 and an economy rate of 4.3. He was an important member of the team at the beginning of the century to such an extent that the then captain Sourav Ganguly once refused to travel without him in the squad. His topspin and an unannounced bounce could make any batsman startle at the crease.
