The Chennai Super Kings CEO, Kasi Viswanathan has recently made a statement that has made the CSK fans happy. Kasi has confirmed that the Australian pacer, Josh Hazlewood will be available for the second leg of the IPL 2021 that is about to commence in UAE. Josh had been replaced by his country fellow, Jason Behrendorff earlier in phase one of IPL.
Under the brilliant captaincy of MS Dhoni, Josh will be featuring in the IPL games that are set to begin from September 19. This year, the Aussie player has been in great form picking 12 important wickets in 8 T20 games played for the Kangaroos with an economy rate of 6.55. After his terrific performance in the Windies T20, this 30-year-old was at his best in the series against Bangladesh taking 8 wickets in 4 games.
The 30-year-old bowler is also placed in Australia’s squad for the upcoming T20 World cup. Kasi mentioned that players who weren’t given a chance to be featured in the first leg of IPL are given chances to participate in the remaining of the tournament.
“Hazlewood has confirmed his availability for the second phase of IPL starting from September 19. The BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the first phase can join the respective teams in the second phase if they are fit and available. Considering Hazlewood’s form, he will be a great addition to our team,” India Today had confirmed the news by Kasi Viswanathan.
Due to personal reasons, Hazlewood was ruled out of the first phase of the IPL 2021. Since the Covid-19 concerns were prevailing in India, the game was postponed in May. Hazlewood was replaced by the left-arm fast bowler, Jason Behrendorff. Though the replacement was in place, unfortunately, Behrendorff wasn’t featured in any of the IPL games for CSK. In 2020, Hazlewood played his debut match and was featured in 3 games for CSK after he was bought for a humongous 2 crores at the IPL auction.
