Harbhajan Singh Suggests Ishan Kishan to Enter as Opening Batsman Along with Rohit

2 min read

The specialist off-spinner of the Indian cricket team, Harbhajan Singh recently put forth his thoughts about the lineup of the Indian cricket squad for the upcoming T20 match against New Zealand. Since both the teams failed miserably in their first game, they will try to get hold of the second game as it makes a huge difference to qualify to the semi finals. The loser might even get knocked off from the World Cup tournament.

In his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh was found to give few comments about the current Indian squad and suggested few changes. If he was to choose the team, Harbhajan would bring in Ishan Kishan as the opening batsman along with Rohit Sharma and push KL Rahul to bat at number 4.

Harbhajan Singh was reported to say, “According to me, it is necessary that Ishan Kishan be in the playing XI. If he opens with Rohit Sharma, India can have the start which they are currently looking for. Kishan is an explosive batsman, who will put pressure on any bowler. He is in good form also. He played some good knocks for Mumbai Indians towards the end of IPL and was looking solid in the warm-up game as well.”

Recently during the 2021 IPL season, Ishan Kishan has scored two solid consecutive half centuries. They were for Mumbai Indians and during the warm-up match for India against England, he hit an impressive 70.

Harbhajan Singh feels that Kishan might be a better replacement than Suryakumar Yadav. He also suggested that the Indian team must continue with Hardik Pandya though he has not been able to contribute much with the ball. Harbhajan recollects about Pandya’s excellent finishing skills and he can be of great help for the team.

“If Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma open the innings and Virat Kohli comes in at number 3, KL Rahul can bat at 4 as well. The top four will be very solid. Pant should continue at 5 and Pandya is such a player, that if he finds his groove, he can leave any batsmen behind. Pandya should be played even as a pure batsman at number 6. If we speak about the best batsmen in the number 6 and number 7 positions, Hardik Pandya’s name comes up without questions,” Harbhajan Singh concluded.
