Life Between wickets

Dinesh Karthik Knocks Out Stumps in Frustration and was Fined Later for Misconduct

2 min read

The Indian Premier League is just one match away from its conclusion. Most of us are much awaited for the finals as the playoffs were all nail biting matches.

The final game of this IPL 2021 will be between the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. With so many ups and downs, this tournament has been phenomenal.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are slightly growing in momentum after their massive defeat of the Delhi Capitals in the last playoffs game on Wednesday. KKR won the toss and they had decided to bowl. The pitch was slow and the captain thought it might be easy to chase.

Delhi Capitals exhibited their worst batting line in the first innings. Every batsman of DC struggled a lot to score runs. Hopes were laid on captain Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw who failed miserably to score runs.

As a result, DC could come up with a target of just 138 runs in a 20 overs span. The KKR team wasn’t comfortable with the pitch but the opening partnership made sure they scored quick runs in the power play.

As the middle order batsmen lost wickets in a blink of an eye, Rahul Tripathi came to rescue the team and finally got a Korbo lorbo victory.

Dinesh Karthik Frustrated After Getting Out Against DC

After getting out in the over of Kagiso Rabada, Dinesh Karthik was found furious. This event happened during the last ball of the 18th over in the second innings. Due to his mistiming to hit the ball, it went straight to the stumps and he was bowled out.

As the team needed runs at this important stage, Dinesh pitched in with hopes of reviving the team and sending them to the finals. Disappointed himself, he knocked out the stump while walking out of the crease.

This was not liked by the referee and Dinesh Karthik was fined for the same. The umpires in this year’s IPL are trying hard to maintain decorum.

Things would have been different if the Tamil Nadu state player had not lost his cool and stayed calm even during the worst situation. However, we do not expect such behavior from him in the upcoming finals on Friday as Kolkata Knight Riders take Chennai Super Kings.
