7 members of the Indian team tested positive for Covid-19 In Ahmedabad

According to Sportstar, eight Indian cricketers, including Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have tested positive for Covod-19.

The Indian players are currently in Ahmedabad preparing for the forthcoming three-match One-Day International series against the Kieron Pollard-led West Indies.

The Indian players arrived in Ahmedabad on Monday and were immediately tested. According to Sportstar, the BCCI medical team is now assessing the issue, and the replacements will be announced shortly

The trio’s findings were reportedly received on Wednesday evening, after all of the Indian players had undergone RT-PCR tests prior to joining the bubble.

While all of the other Indian players tested negative in the initial round of RT-PCR tests, eight cricketers tested positive in the second round on Wednesday.

Despite the fact that the players and support personnel have yet to meet, the rest of the squad has been placed in isolation and will undergo another set of RT-PCR tests on Thursday morning.

In a press release regarding the same, BCCI said, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Mayank Agarwal to India’s ODI squad after seven members, including three players of Team India (Senior Men) tested positive for COVID-19 following three rounds of RT-PCR testing. The members were asked to report in Ahmedabad on 31st January 2022 for the upcoming Paytm three-match ODI and T20I series against the West Indies.”

The release further added, “Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative. Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and fast bowler Navdeep Saini’s (standby player) RT-PCR tests conducted on Monday (January 31st) have returned positive results. Fielding Coach T.”

The release concluded, “Dilip and Security Liaison Officer B. Lokesh’s RT-PCR tests conducted on Monday (January 31st) have returned positive results. Batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad’s RT-PCR test conducted on Tuesday (February 1st) has returned a positive result. He had tested negative during the first round of testing on Monday. Batsman Shreyas Iyer and Sports Massage Therapist Rajeev Kumar’s RT-PCR tests conducted on Wednesday (February 2nd) have returned positive results. Both had tested negative in the first two rounds of testing.”
